On the Process of Ordination

One of the purposes of The Abbey of St. Thomas the Doubter is to provide the opportunity for individuals to become priests in the ECoD. The first step is to ask an existing priest to be your mentor. If accepted you will be required to attend, and when appropriate, participate in ten ceremonies or rituals. These will be very diverse in nature. Readings and other preparations will be made available to you by your mentor. Each experience will be documented and discussed.

At the end of a year you, the petitioner, and your mentor will request a hearing with the sitting Abbot. Your work will be scrutinized and you will be questioned in detail about your preparations. You will need to prove to the Abbot that you are ready in every way to serve as a priest in the Ecumenical Church of the Divine. If deemed worthy the church and all of its resources will be available to you as you prepare your rite of ordination.
